This is the first recording ever by the Nîmes
(France) Jazz Big Band, even though the band was established way back
in 1964 by Guy-Jean Labory (creator of the Nîmes Jazz Festival).
"Jazz on all Floors" was composed for them to order and premiered at
the Armature theatre in Nîmes in May 2001
The following is an extract from a press review by the French newspaper the “Midi
Libre”
“Eric Breton's latest creation is a veritable symphonic jazz piece, where
the fragrance of Count Basie mingles with that of Claude Debussy, where crossbreeding
becomes osmosis, where diverse inspirations are founded and nourish each other.
This yields a piece which is rich, serene, sometimes playful, always extremely
musical and imaginative, never arid”
